Gail (Ormsby) Byers, 75 of Williamstown, PA, passed away on May 7th, 2023 in Gotha, FL, surrounded by love from family and friends. She has been kicking cancer’s butt since 2017, and her family was at peace with knowing she was ready to put down her boxing gloves.
Gail was born in Philadelphia to the late George and Mildred Ormsby on June 16, 1947. She went to Lycoming college where she met the love of her life Dana Byers. They married on May 16, 1970 and settled in Enfield, CT where they raised two children, Bonnie and Julie. Gail enjoyed traveling with family and friends, seeing her grandkids and great grandkids in concerts and sporting events and was a sucker for a well-set dining room table. She brought a commitment to hard work and her international connections in her 27 years at Springborn Laboratories. She rejoiced in the Lord as a member of Calvary Presbyterian Church, a member of Shuvah Yisrael, through AGLOW, being an elder in the church, playing piano for services, teaching Hebrew, being a prominent member of the Messianic Community and attending the Rabbi conferences. She embraced time with her kids in leading the girl scout troop, substitute teaching at their school and being an active member of the PTA. She dedicated her life to others in playing the piano at the prison, and care ministry to home bound and blind. During her 12 years in Georgetown, KY after she retired, she continued to rejoice in the Lord and give to others as a member of Baruch Haba, a member of First United Methodist Church, writing the Hadassah newsletter, leading the Hadassah book club, dedicating her time at the hospital library and making gowns for the dolls used at the hospital to aid children through treatment.
Gail is survived by her husband, Dana, her children, Bonnie and Julie, her grandchildren, Christine, Thomas, Jason, Nicholas, Anderson and Evan, her great grandchildren Melody and Maya.
