The Pittsburgh Pirates came from behind to defeat the Cleveland Guardians 7-5 Wednesday afternoon at PNC Park. The win snapped a five-game losing streak. After manager Derek Shelton had a successful challenge of an umpire call, the Pirates broke through for five runs in the seventh inning to take the victory. That inning saw Ji-Man Choi hit a key two-out, two-run single, and Endy Rodriguez earned his first major league hit when he entered the game as a pinch hitter. Rodriguez had struck out in six of his first seven big-league at-bats.
Third baseman Jared Triolo had two hits in the game, and now has a 12-game hitting streak, the longest of the season for the Pirates.
Starting pitcher Rich Hill allowed four earned runs on eight hits while pitching into the sixth inning. David Bednar earned his 18th save of the season.
The Bucs are off today, then begin a six-game road trip in California Friday night against the Los Angeles Angels.
