The Pittsburgh Pirates defeated the Milwaukee Brewers 4-1 Sunday afternoon and split their four-game series. Starting pitcher Johan Oviedo allowed just two hits in his seven shutout innings. He walked three and struck out six. The Pirate runs came from three home runs. Endy Rodriguez and Connor Joe hit solo shots. Bryan Reynolds connected for a two-run, pinch-hit home run in the eighth inning.
The Bucs won Friday’s game 8-4, then lost 3-2 in 10-innings Saturday.
The Pirates have now gone 9-7 in the past 16 games. They open a fourgame series with the Atlanta Braves tonight. Game time is 7:05pm. Pre-game on WISR begins at 6:40pm.
