Crews were on the scene of a house fire Wednesday morning in the City of Butler.
The initial call came in around 10:15 a.m. for a house fire in the 200 block of Heim Avenue, which is on the South Side of Butler.
City crews were joined by those from Butler Township, the VA, Butler Ambulance, and police to find a working fire with smoke coming from a two-story home. Upon arrival, firefighters said the house was vacant.
Fire fighters began to attack the blaze, but said there was still a significant amount of smoke coming from the attic after a half hour.
They also requested for West Penn Power to disconnect electricity due to wires arcing in the basement. No one was injured during the fire.
According to Butler City Fire Chief Chris Switala, the building was bank-owned and in the process of being sold but the fire remains under investigation.
“The fire damage was limited to mainly one room on the first floor and some fire damage near the electrical panel in the basement and then the fire then ran up one of the walls as well up to the second floor.”
Crews cleared the scene shortly after 1 p.m.
