Non-union employees in Butler County are being approved for a salary increase.
The county’s salary board voted 3-1 in favor of the raise, which gives employees either a 3 percent increase or a $2,000 flat rate raise. The salary board is composed of the three Butler County Commissioners and Butler County Controller Ben Holland.
County officials say 77 employees will receive the $2,000 raise because a three percent raise would not get them to that number. Around 75 other employees will be receiving the three percent raise.
County Commissioner Leslie Osche voted against the policy saying that she was in favor of a straight up three percent raise, or even a 3.25 percent raise, but believes the $2,000 flat rate increase is a temporary fix.
The county expects the policy to lead to a $323,000 increase in wages out of the budget, but that doesn’t factor in social security, benefits, and pensions.
The policy takes effect January 2024.
