Owners of a local facility will be able to move forward with plans for a members-only health club following a decision by the Butler Township Zoning Hearing Board.
Wednesday night the board granted a request for variance filed by Tesla Biohealing and MedBed Center concerning a Special Exception for a fitness center as well as a reduction in required parking spaces.
Property owners and representatives discussed their plans for offering memberships for local residents to be able to work out at the site of the former bar in the Days Inn. Tesla also plans to put in changing rooms and a shower for those using the fitness center. A kitchen and restaurant are also being renovated in order to be open to the public.
The request for a reduction in required parking is due to the fact that the Butler Area Sewer Authority actually owns a parcel of land with 36 parking spaces previously used by the hotel under a lease agreement but the dissolution of the authority could result in the property being removed from use by the hotel.
