A unique medical clinic in Butler last weekend is being considered a success by host Butler Area School District.
Butler Superintendent Dr. Brian White provided school board members with an update about the Remote Area Medical clinic which was held at the Butler Intermediate Saturday and Sunday.
“Well over 300 people got services which I believe the accounting was close to $116,000 worth of services brought in free of charge,” White said.
The clinic offered free health care services such as general medical exams along with dental cleanings and fillings. Residents were also able to receive eye exams and eyeglasses made on-location.
In addition to medical services, many local assistance organizations also sent representatives to this event to provide resources to families in need. A large number of volunteers also participated.
“91 volunteers on Friday to set up, 282 volunteers on Saturday and 183 volunteers on Sunday. It was a proud moment to be affiliated with school district and a proud moment to see how the community came together,” White said.
White told organizers that the district would host a future RAM event as long as the facility was available.
