Pennsylvania Senator Bob Casey spoke to our newsroom and shared his thoughts on the war in Israel.
Casey says that supporting Israel in their war against Hamas is in part a way to help the Palestinian people as they will rebuild after the war.
“In the long run, it’s going to take awhile with a lot of work, rebuilding and investment, but the Palestinian people will be better off without Hamas than it has been with Hamas controlling their future,” Casey said.
As war ranges on in Ukraine Casey believes in supporting democracy as he says the United States did so during World War II and other previous wars.
“This is a fight for democracy where all we have to contribute is funding. We don’t have to contribute lives,” Casey said. “Members of Congress who say we should not fund Ukraine, do not believe in democracy. And if you vote against funding for Ukraine, you are pro-Putin.”
