With colder weather now here, AAA is reminding drivers to check their tire pressure.
A new study by the travel agency found that in-tire pressure monitoring systems are generally accurate, but they still encourage drivers to check the pressure manually.
They also say that most of the tire pressure monitoring systems work, but tires could be more than 20 percent deflated before the dashboard warning comes on.
The cold weather makes the air denser, so pressure in tires is reduced.
AAA say don’t ignore the warning and to continually monitor tire pressure throughout the year.
