Pennsylvania State Police have released their yearly Christmas holiday crash and enforcement report which saw a decrease in crashes but an increase in citations.
This year there were 404 reported crashes, which is down more than 200 compared to last year. There were also three fatal crashes taking the lives of three people and 70 people injured in crashes.
There was nearly an additional 600 citations given out from 2022 to 2023, for a total of 2,853 citations. The majority of increased citations came from speeding. There was also an increase of DUI arrests to 198 compared to 116 from the year before.
State Police is also reminding drivers that with New Year’s Eve approaching they will be on the lookout for impaired, aggressive and distracted drivers.
