Gas prices have remained even locally but continue to edge down across the western Pennsylvania region as a whole during the past week.
According to AAA’s weekly gas price report, the average price for a gallon of regular, unleaded, self-serve gas in Butler, as of Monday, stayed at $3.43 per gallon.
The average gas price across western Pennsylvania as a whole decreased by a couple cents over the same period of time to settle at $3.39. The most affordable average price for gas in the area can be found in New Castle at $3.07, while the most expensive is in Kittanning at $3.65.
The average national gas price dropped by three cents over the past week to reach $3.07. This is 11 cents less than a month ago and 21 cents less than one year ago. Demand for gas dropped after the holiday while the price of oil has increase slightly as a result of shipping tensions in the Middle East continue to raise fears of tightening supply and increased transportation costs.
