The Slippery Rock University baseball team will be retired the jersey of former Rock pitcher Lou Trivino in a ceremony being held in Florida next week. Trivino wore number 37 while at Slippery Rock when he pitched from 2011 through 2013. He started 35 games over his three seasons with a 19-9 record and 1.99 ERA. He struck out 217 batters in 213 innings. Trivino reached All-America status and was a three-time All-PSAC selection. He was drafted by the Oakland Athletics in 2013, and remains a top reliever in major league baseball. Currently a free agent at the age of 34, he missed last season with a back injury, but expects to return to the major league level this season. He most recently was a member of the New York Yankees.
