The Knoch School Board has approved a couple of change orders regarding the construction project at the High School campus.
According to an update from the district’s construction manager, crews working on earthwork operations in order to create a building pad and foundation have not been able to sufficiently compact the ground due to excessive moisture.
The recommended solution is to treat the soil with quick dry lime. It is not known exactly how much lime will be needed but the school board approved the plan for up to $82,000. Once treated next week, the ground should be suitable for building to begin.
This comes in addition to a change order that was approved last week in the amount of $42,000 in order to dispose of slag that was used as filler under the blacktop at the school.
The new cafeteria and office space will be under construction at the same time with district employees expected to be able to utilize the new offices this fall and the cafeteria expected to be able to be used by students about one year from now.
