The Butler County Symphony will be presenting a classic tale as it continues its 75th anniversary season this weekend.
The orchestra will perform Sergei Prokofiev’s Romeo and Juliet, based of the William Shakespeare classic love story.
Music from Nikolai Rimsky and Reinhold Gliere will also be included in the symphony.
World-renown Grammy nominated musician and conductor Andres Cardenes will be the guest conductor for the show. Cardenes will also be conducting his daughter during this show.
“I actually conducted her debut when she was nine-years-old, she played the piano. She made her concerto debut with an orchestra in Germany, which I conducted,” Cardenes said. “She switched to the harp when she was around 11, and so this will be the first time I’ll be conducting her in a major concerto. So this is an epic moment for both of us.”
The Symphony will be Saturday in Butler’s Intermediate High School Auditorium starting at 7:30pm.
Tickets are available pre-sale on the symphony’s website or at their offices on the Diamond.
