The Butler County Prison will be moving most of their corrections officers to full-time positions.
The county’s salary board approved the measure at their public meeting yesterday.
Previously, corrections officers were working what was described as a “full-time, part-time position” that had them work 32 hours per week, with overtime possible.
Now, officers will work 40-hour weeks, still with possible overtime. Wages will remain the same, but they will also add more paid-time-off.
Officials with the prison believe the move will help with employee retention and burnout, citing that nearly 50 percent of their workforce has been with the prison for three years or less.
This will impact 20 positions at the prison according to officials.
