A new rule will prevent dogs from being used to hunt furbearers during regular deer and bears firearms season.
The Game Commission announced the change at a meeting over the weekend.
Officials say over the last couple of years there have been an increasing number of complaints about hunters using dogs to hunt coyotes during the regular deer and bear firearms season.
That has led to either intentional and unintentional pushing, driving, or killing of deer and bears.
Dogs will still be allowed during in-season and nighttime hunting of furbearers.
