A local lawmaker is putting forward a couple of bills that she believes will improve transparency in higher education.
Republican Representative Stephenie Scialabba recently introduced House Bill 2040 that requires institutions of higher ed to create public reports in advance about the cost and purpose of trips, the source of funding, and the benefit to Pennsylvanians.
Scialabba also introduced House Bill 2041 which prohibits higher ed schools from requiring the completion of Critical Race Theory or Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion training or coursework in order to graduate, receive credit hours or a degree.
Scialabba pointed to a recent Penn State University funded trip to Ghana that taught farmers about gender as well as the University of Pittsburgh requiring undergraduate and graduate students to complete diversity training as evidence of the need for this legislation.
