Gas prices have reversed course once again with a small increase both locally as well as across the western Pennsylvania region as a whole during the past week.
According to AAA’s weekly gas price report, the average price for a gallon of regular, unleaded, self-serve gas in Butler, as of Monday, rose by seven cents to arrive at $3.65 per gallon.
The average gas price across western Pennsylvania as a whole increased by three cents over the same period of time to reach $3.66. The most affordable average price for gas in the area can be found in New Castle at $3.53, while the most expensive is in Mercer at $3.70.
The average national gas price jumped by nine cents over the past week to reach $3.35. This is 24 cents more than a month ago and but four cents less than one year ago. Although oil prices dropped slightly, demand increased as motorists begin taking spring break trips.
