David Patrick Christy, 62, of Canfield, OH died on March 1, 2024 after bravely fighting a 5-year battle with melanoma. He was born in Salem, Ohio and was a 1979 graduate of Salem High School. He was preceded in death by his parents, Patty (Clevenger) and James Alvin Patrick, and a loving sister, Ramona. He is survived by his long-time partner and recent husband, Douglas Christy, of Butler County, PA, two sisters, Sharon and Trina, a brother, nieces and nephews, and in-laws Claudia Christy and Roger (Pat) Christy. He was self-employed for over 40 years as a hair stylist and colorist in the Boardman area. With flair, his quick laugh and his considerable expertise he developed a large and devoted clientele. David was very happy to count many of his clients as his closest personal friends. David was known for his sense of style…he was always very dapper…and he never left the house without looking perfect. The guy could accessorize! David’s passions were style and fashion, music, weightlifting, horseback riding, driving a spotlessly clean car, and his cats. David competed in natural bodybuilding competitions in the 90s and 00s. Above all David enjoyed spending time with Doug on the Christy family farm in Butler County, PA where he lived his last months. Together David and Doug enjoyed spending time and glamping with their Pittsburgh friends and foxhunting and socializing with the Sewickley Hunt in Sewickley, PA, where they were married in October of 2023. Members of the Hunt were and are a second family to David and Doug. The family is grateful for the care David received at Cleveland Clinic, for the many caring staff and physicians there, and for the care provided by the angels at Good Samaritan Hospice. Doug would like to thank their many friends for their love and support but above all Bonnie and Bill Leaming of Canfield, OH for their tireless devotion to David and his cats and Mrs. Mai-Lan Fagan of Sewickley, PA for kindnesses too many to count. The family has made private funeral arrangements through SPENCER D. GEIBEL FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, 140 NEW CASTLE RD. BUTLER, PA 16001, WWW.SPENCERDGEIBEL.COM.
