The Philadelphia Phillies defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates 9-7 in exhibition play in Florida Sunday. Oneil Cruz hit two home runs for the Pirates. Cruz and Bryan Reynolds hit back-to-back home runs in the first inning. The Bucs lead all of Grapefruit League in home runs. Quinn Priester started for the Pirates. He allowed five earned runs over 3-2/3rd innings, including a grand slam to Phillies third baseman Kody Clemens, the son of former pitcher Roger Clemens.
The Pirates play the Boston Red Sox this afternoon in Fort Myers.
