Senator Bob Casey has introduced a bill to lower the costs of infant formula and prevent future shortages.
With quickly rising costs for baby formula and a shortage that impacted families across the country two years ago, Senator Casey has introduced a bill that would provide tax credits to support producers.
The Infant Formula Made in America Act would be a 30 percent tax credit of new investment to infant formula production and up to $150 million got new online production.
Along with the investment tax credit there will be a $2 credit for every pound of formula produced up to 18 million pounds over a five-year period.
The bill is endorsed by National Milk Producers Federation and is cosponsored by U.S. Senator Martin Heinrich of New Mexico.
