Recovering Karns City football player Mason Martin is continuing to make progress in his rehabilitation.
An update from his father states Mason has been “able to do something new” nearly every day. He has been challenged by his occupational therapist with “great results” including gaining strength in his upper body as well as reaching for and grabbing certain objects.
A recent CT scan revealed that Mason’s brain needs to drain more fluid so an adjustment is being made to his shunt. Although he is still nonverbal, Mason’s father says that Mason has been able to communicate by giving a thumbs up or squeezing buttons.
Mason is expected to stay at Children’s Hospital for another couple weeks. A baseball game between Karns City and Moniteau to benefit Mason is planned for Wednesday (4/10) at Historic Pullman Park.
