Another step has been taken in creating a new water source for some areas in northern Butler County.
Butler County Commissioners approved $750,000 in funding that will go toward the purchasing a new water source for the Petroleum Valley Regional Water Authority.
The authority will be buying the Number 4 Kaylor Mine along Brady’s Bend. It’s an inactive limestone mine in the area.
County officials say this is going to bring higher volume and better quality water to residents in Petrolia, Bruin, and Karns City.
The funding comes from federal American Rescue Plan dollars allotted to the county in 2022.
