Several local schools will be receiving funding from the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency to help improve safety.
Knoch School District has been awarded nearly $563,000 through the School Safety and Security Committee including a nearly $400,000 competitive award to support physical security improvements, behavioral health resources, and school security personnel needs.
This program has also designated Meritorious and Mental Health awards of nearly $234,000 for Seneca Valley School District as well as just over $222,000 for Butler Area School District for school-based mental health and behavioral health supports including counselors and resources for students.
Mars Area School District will receive over $182,000, Slippery Rock Area and Freeport Area School Districts will each collect $159,000, Karns City Area School District $152,000, Moniteau School District $150,000, A-C Valley $138,000, and the Butler Vo-Tech $70,000.
A total of $47 million has been awarded to education agencies across the state for school safety improvements in this most recent awarding of School Safety and Security Grants.
