Butler residents may have noticed that a local historical monument has been receiving some attention recently.
According to Butler County Historical Society Executive Director Jen Ford repair work is under way on The Little Red Schoolhouse thanks to generous donors including the Daughters of the American Revolution.
“The crew put a new roof that’s supposed to last for 75 years on the Little Red School House. When I last stopped over there, they were blasting really toxic, nasty red paint off the brick, and they’re putting up new gutters,” Ford said.
Ford went on to say that the Society will be working on the interior as well.
“There will be new exhibits and all the artifacts that have been hiding under tables for years will be brought out and displayed in a modern exhibit,” Ford said.
Crews will then be moving on to repair the porch at Cooper Cabin in Cabot. Visit the website of the Butler County Historical Society for more information about this project and upcoming events.
