The Butler Golden Tornado Boys Track and Field team claimed another WPIAL title once again. The team championships were held at West Mifflin yesterday and the top class featured Butler, Norwin, Penn Trafford and North Allegheny. The Golden Tornado cruised to victory against all three opponents.
Drew Griffith won all three distance races (800, 1600 and 3200) along with anchoring the winning 4×800 relay team, which also included Owen Dressler, Logan Rogers, and Drew Knight, that ran a 7:57.
Landon Lacey won the 100 meter dash and David Graef the 200.
“Butler’s boys track and field team knew what they were up against when they got off the bus at the stadium, I could see it in the focus and concentration they had the entire bus ride down,” Head Coach Mike Seybert said. “When they stepped off that bus, every single Butler athlete was ready to go. And it showed immediately. The other head coaches complimented our boys, saying their own kids hit PR’s all over the day of performances, Butler just stepped up a bit more right from the start. ”

Ava Santora placed first in the 1,600 and 3,200 meter runs. Karlee Buterbaugh finished first in javelin and Kara Fennell claimed the best results in the pole vault.
