Happening today in Beaver County, an exercise of the Radiological Emergency Preparedness (REP).
The Beaver Valley Power Station will be taking part in an exercise that will then be reviewed by FEMA to assess the ability of West Virginia and Pennsylvania’s response to an emergency.
The REP program is completed every other year and determines how a state government and local officials can ensure health and safety to those who live within a 10-mile-radius during an emergency at a plant. Along with educating the public about radiological emergency preparedness.
The full report will not be made public for 120 days but their will be a preliminary public meeting on June 13 where questions can be submitted.
