West won an Olympic gold medal in 1960, and went on to become an All-Star in each of his 14 NBA seasons. He became the third NBA player to score 25,000 points in his career. West would spend four decades in the sport as a player, scout, coach and executive. He won NBA championships with several generations of Lakers teams and Lakers stars.
