It’s a great weekend to enjoy some outdoor activities at our local State Parks.
First, a Papermaking program will be held at Moraine State Park Saturday morning from 10 a.m. to noon at Pleasant Valley Beach on the South Shore. The whole family is invited to dress for a mess as they learn how to hand-make recycled paper.
Also on Saturday at Moraine a Trail Workday is planned from 10 a.m. to noon at the Pleasant Valley Trail Head, non-powered Boat Launch area on the south shore. Volunteers 15 and older will assist with improving the hiking surface, removing debris, and cutting back overgrowth. Some training and tools will be provided but participants should bring rakes, trimmers, and saws.
Finally, on Sunday a From Grain to Bread demonstration will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Gristmill Courtyard at McConnell’s Mill State Park. The gristmill baker will share recipes and all the info needed to make great bread as well as pancakes and pizza on an outdoor grill.
