A new program aimed at making housing more affordable launched yesterday and will begin taking applications.
The Department of Community and Economic Development has announced the PA Mixed-Use Housing Development pilot program that will give out $10 million in grants to develop mixed-use housing projects.
The application for funding is open until December 6 and eligible applicants will use funding to develop a multi-use housing building. The building could be a part of a conversion or rehabilitation of an already existing structure.
The program hopes of developing both rental and owner-occupied residential units. Potential applicants include municipalities; economic development organizations; redevelopment authorities; municipal authorities; industrial development agencies; and for-profit organizations.
