No one suffered any major injuries this morning after a garbage truck crashed into the Armco Credit Union.
The accident happened around 8:45 a.m. when a garbage truck went over the hillside near the intersection at Hansen Avenue and collided into the bank near the ATM drive-thru.
It’s not clear what led the truck to go over the hill.
Mark Buchek is a Commercial Loan Manager at Armco and he was in the building at the time of the crash.
“I heard the impact, I was actually in the lower level of the building and we heard this, I don’t know, just and unusual crashing type noise, had no idea what it was,” said Buchek. “A couple of us ran upstairs and saw this truck coming through the wall behind our teller window.”
A credit union spokesperson says that no customers or employees were injured in the crash. The garbage truck driver was taken to the hospital with injuries to his head and arm—although he did not suffer any major injuries.
The credit union will be closed for the rest of the day; customers can access services online. The Armco Credit Union is implementing a disaster relief program and will provide updates on social media.
