The amount of revenue the state brought in during January was slightly less than expected.
The Department of Revenue announced that collections totaled $3.9 billion last month.
This is just over 1% less than anticipated, and the year-to-date collections are down by six tenths of a percent.
Sales tax receipts continue to be the main driver of revenue, bringing in $1.3 billion in January which is nearly $2 million over estimate. Personal income tax revenue was $2 billion and corporation tax revenue was nearly $277 million. The Motor License Fund which includes gas taxes collected over $250 million last month, also slightly more than anticipated while the yearly total remains nearly 5% over estimate.
