State officials are urging those responsible for forest and wooded properties to prepare for spongy moth treatments.
The spongy moth is a major threat to Pennsylvania’s forests, according to DCNR officials. They say the moths have killed millions of oak and other tree species. Within the last three years, the moths have reached outbreak levels in PA forests.
They say private land owners should research treatment options-which can be found on the DCNR website.
The treatments should then be applied in May.
