With the Lenten season now underway, many local churches and organizations will rev up the deep fryer tomorrow for the first fish fry of the year.
Local fish meals will be offered by the All Saints Parish at the Saint Conrad Church social center, Saint Faustina Parish at Saint Peter Church in Slippery Rock as well as Saint Louis Church in West Sunbury, Saint Francis of Assisi Parish at Saint Mary School of the Assumption in Herman, and Saint Wendelin School at the Church Hall.
Two parishes in Cranberry are also offering Fish Frys: Divine Grace Parish at Saint Ferdinand Church and Saint Mark the Evangelist Parish at Saint Kilian Church and School. Some events offer curbside pickup and phone orders but it is best to check with the parish website.
Since the 1960s, fish frys have become a popular fundraiser and social gathering where attendees can enjoy different kinds of fish, French fries or some sort of potato, coleslaw, bread and butter—and maybe even a homemade dessert.
