The public is invited to get a closer look at new elementary reading and K to 8 Science teaching materials for students in the Butler Area School District.
At their Monday night meeting, the Butler Area School Board approved placing new English Language Arts materials for kindergarten through 5th grade on display for 30 days before purchasing.
The curriculum is from Amplify CKLA but districts are given options to tailor subject matter to what they feel is appropriate. Also, the district will be able to print out most, if not all materials so they will not need to pay additional costs for publishing to an outside company.
The district is also piloting a new science curriculum from OpenSciEd for all students not in high school that meets new state requirements.
The district plans on forming a committee for evaluation and possible changes made up of parents, teachers, and administrators.
