The GOP-endorsed candidate for the Pennsylvania Superior Court visited Butler County Friday to garner support.
Judge Ann Marie Wheatcraft has been a Commons Plea Judge in West Chester County for the last 13 years and spent 13 years as an assistant district attorney in Chester County before that.
Wheatcraft is most notable for her time spent establishing treatment courts in Chester County.
“My background prior to law school was mental health and drug and alcohol,” Wheatcraft said. “I spent a few years after college, and before and during law school, working in that field. So, the treatment court was a really good fit for me.”
Wheatcraft was also one of the first family court judges to have a therapy dog, which have gained in popularity.
“Since it was a service dog in training, they had to let me bring it to work. That’s how I was able to get a therapy dog to children, because I was working a lot of families and children,” Wheatcraft said.
Wheatcraft is facing Republican Maria Battista in the closed primary held on May 20.
