The Pittsburgh Pirates defeated the Milwaukee Brewers in extra innings Friday night, 6-5.
Starting pitcher Paul Skenes went 6 innings allowing 1 run and striking out 8.
Center Fielder Oneil Cruz hit two home runs in the game, a 442 foot blast in the 3rd inning, followed by a game-tying 427 foot towering shot in the 9th inning. The game went into extra innings where the Pirates secured the victory on a walk-off wild pitch.
The Pirates have now scored 5+ runs in back-to-back games after not scoring more than 4 runs in 26 games, dating back to April 22nd. That feat tied an MLB record for the Modern Era.
