The Pittsburgh Pirates defeated the Milwaukee Brewers in extra innings Friday night, 6-5.

Starting pitcher Paul Skenes went 6 innings allowing 1 run and striking out 8.

Center Fielder Oneil Cruz hit two home runs in the game, a 442 foot blast in the 3rd inning, followed by a game-tying 427 foot towering shot in the 9th inning. The game went into extra innings where the Pirates secured the victory on a walk-off wild pitch.

The Pirates have now scored 5+ runs in back-to-back games after not scoring more than 4 runs in 26 games, dating back to April 22nd. That feat tied an MLB record for the Modern Era.

The Pirates and Brewers play again today at 4:05 PM. WISR Pregame begins at 3:40 PM.

Slippery Rock defeated Cathedral Prep, 2-1.

Racing

The 109th running of the Indy 500 is scheduled for Sunday at 12:15 PM. Coverage will be on WBUT.

NASCAR will race at Charlotte Motor Speedway in the Coca-Cola 600 Sunday at 5 PM. Coverage is also on WBUT.
