The Butler Transit Authority is on board with a PennDOT plan to seek federal funding to purchase new buses.
At their meeting Tuesday night, Authority members voted to approve a support letter to be submitted with PennDOT’s application for federal grant money.
According to Authority Executive Director John Paul, two 30-foot CNG buses that went into service in 2017 will be due for replacement in two years.
If approved, the funding would allow for replacement buses to be in place by that time. If not, PennDOT will likely seek state funds to ensure reliable local public transit continues.
