The state Department of Environmental Protection is rejecting the proposed new sewer system in Connoquenessing Township.
Connoquenessing supervisors voted 2-1 to approve the $54 million plan earlier this year. However, the DEP called the plan “technically deficient and not approvable as submitted.”
The DEP cited the cost of the project, which was estimated to charge homes $252 per month for the new system. The letter also said that agricultural concerns were not addressed.
The board of supervisors will now have to put together a new plan, but it will do so with two new members. Ray Kroll and Mark Williamson will be sworn-in this Monday. They’ll join Angela Fleeger, who was the only supervisor to vote against the plan.
