New numbers show that Pennsylvanians were willing to put up big bucks to gamble on this year’s Super Bowl.
The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board says that over $59 million was bet on the big game this year between the Seattle Seahawks and New England Patriots. 90% of that wagering was done online.
However, those numbers are down nearly 42% from last year. The most likely reason for the decrease would be the absence of a team from the Keystone State. Last year’s Super Bowl featured the Philadelphia Eagles and the Kansas City Chiefs.
Even though the total amount wagered was down, revenue generated was significantly higher at over $18 million compared to last year when over $6 million in revenue was lost.
