As playoffs get underway in Pittsburgh and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania’s top cop is warning fans about ticket and merchandise scams.
As the Philadelphia 76ers and Flyers start their chase to a championship and the Pittsburgh Penguins host a few playoff games, Attorney Dave Sunday has provided these tips to avoid scams.
- Do click on banner or pop-ads on a legitimate website that takes you to a third-party website.
- Review your cart before checking out as some third-party ticket resales have check out fees.
- Stick to ticket websites you are familiar with and double check the websites URL to avoid minor changes from scam artists.
- Do not buy tickets in person from someone you do not know.
- Do not pay with untraceable payments
If you believe you are a victim of a scam you can contact the Attorney General’s Bureau of Consumer Protection by emailing scams@attorneygeneral.gov or by calling 1-800-441-2555.
