State police are investigating after a teenager had a tax return falsely filed in their name.
Police say a parent came into the state police barracks in Kittanning in late March after discovering a tax return was fraudulently filed on his daughter’s behalf.
The parent of the Karns City teenager received a notice from the IRS about the fraudulent filing. Police say the scammer used the teen’s name and social security number to make the filing.
Their investigation is ongoing.
