Another assessment appeal by a major landlord will have an impact on local tax collection.
The county commissioners accepted an assessment appeal of the Butler Crossing shopping plaza. The property was originally valued around $23 million, and will now be assessed at $18 million.
This is the latest in assessment appeals from local shopping plazas, that have seen their property values significantly knocked down over the past few years. With the lower values, the property tax collection for governments and school districts has also gone down.
