Several fire crews were called to a garage fire that shut down a highway in neighboring Lawrence County yesterday morning.
The incident happened around 8:15 a.m. on Rock Springs Road in Scott Township.
According to officials, a car went off the road and through a garage, hit a tree, then caught on fire. Fire officials say the car would have went into the Slippery Rock Creek if it didn’t hit the tree.
The driver of the vehicle was treated at the scene and didn’t suffer any major injuries.
Fire officials say the driver told police he fell asleep at the wheel driving home from work after working a 12 hour shift.
The garage is considered a total loss.
