Henry James Walborn, 98, of Butler, entered the Kingdom of Heaven on June 9, 2026.
Born on May 19, 1928, in Butler, he was the son of the late Lewis D. and Ida E. (Wimer) Walborn. Henry lived a long and meaningful life marked by service, faith, friendship, and a genuine love for people. A proud veteran, he honorably served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. On the frontlines, he barely escaped death on more than one occasion. He continued to carry the values of duty, integrity, and patriotism throughout his life. After the Army, he was employed as a welder at Armco until his retirement.
To know Henry was to know a man who never met a stranger. He was social and could strike up a conversation with someone he just met. He was a storyteller whose historical and sometimes humorous tales captivated anyone fortunate enough to listen. Henry found great joy in tending his garden, still planting and caring for his garden at 97. He loved traveling and exploring new places. Henry traveled around the country in his travel trailer, visiting family and attending church camps. His faith was an important part of his life, and he could often be heard singing his favorite hymns. He will be deeply missed.
He is survived by his sons, James (Jody) Walborn and John (Lisa) Walborn; daughter, Patricia (Mike) Best; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren, with one more on the way, and his brother, Paul L. Walborn.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy J. Walborn, whom he married on June 20, 1952, and who passed away on October 7, 2025, his daughter, Shirley Ann Walborn Ambroziak; his grandson, Mike Best, Jr.; four brothers, David, Grant, Robert, and William , and his sister, Wava.
A visitation will be held on Monday, June 15, 2026, from 5-7 PM at Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 E. North Street, Butler, PA 16001. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at 10:30 AM with Pastor Nathan Walter of Penns Valley God’s Missionary Church officiating.
He will be laid to rest at Greenlawn Burial Estates with full military honors accorded by members of the Butler County Honor Guard.
