Police have identified the man that led a chase and search through Cranberry Township this weekend.
On Sunday just after 7:30 p.m., gun shots were reported at a New Brighton Gas Station. Police were able to use security cameras to identify the vehicle and shooter in the vehicle as 33-year-old Jalen Sims.
According to charging documents, while at the gas station Sims went into the convenient store while the driver filled up on gas. Once Sims returned he asked the driver to circle around the station and park at a different spot.
Once parked Sims went into the back seat of the vehicle where a gun had been left earlier in the day by accident. Sims then fired several shots into a vehicle getting gas.
After the shots were fired the driver of the vehicle declined leaving. That is when Sims threaten to shoot the driver if he did not leave the scene.
The driver and Sims, while fleeing would be spotted in the area of the 100 block of Rochester Road tossing a black bag on the side of the road. Officers would later confirm that the gun used in the shooting was in that bag.
The vehicle would eventually run out of gas in a Cranberry Township church parking lot and Sims would flee on foot.
The driver of the vehicle would report the shooting to police from the church parking lot. While fleeing on foot Sims saw the driver calling 911, Sims came back attacked the driver and fled on foot.
A warrant for Sims arrest has been issued.
Sims is facing several charges including two counts of criminal attempt-homicide, two counts of aggravated assault, and one count of guns not to be carried without a license.
