A Petrolia man is accused of stealing a vehicle then assaulting and threatening to kill another man in Washington Township.
The incident happened on Sunday just before 9 p.m. at a home on the 200 block of Hilliard Road.
According to charging documents, 48-year-old Robert Wilhelm stole a family member’s vehicle, but ran out of gas on Route 8. Police say he returned home and allegedly threatened to kill the victim.
Police say the victim had red marks their neck and back.
Wilhelm has been charged with unauthorized use of motor a vehicle, simple assault, terroristic threats, and harassment.
He was placed in the Butler County on $3,000 bond and a preliminary hearing was scheduled for June 30.
