The Pittsburgh Pirates open their final home series of the season tonight with the first of three games against the Milwaukee Brewers. Game time is 6:40pm. Pre-game on WISR begins at 6:15pm.
The Pirates will go with reliever Lake Bachar to start tonight’s game. The Brewers will have Jacob Misiorowski starting. The “Miz” is 14-5 this season with a 1.95 ERA.
The Pirates open the series at 75-75 overall and in third place in the N.L. Central, while the Brewers have the best record in baseball at 93-57. They lead the Chicago Cubs by 9-1/2 games and have already clinched a playoff spot. The Cubs are the top Wild Card in the National League.
So far in the National League, Cincinnati, San Francisco, Colorado, Washington and the New York Mets have been officially eliminated from post-season contention.
The Los Angeles Dodgers have also clinched a National League playoff spot. The New York Yankees clinched a spot last night, joining the Tampa Bay Rays, who lead the American League East by 3-1/2 games over the Yankees.
