Bruce C. Junker, 85 years old, of Chicora, PA passed away Sunday, July 30, 2017 in Good Samaritan Hospice in Concordia Home, Cabot following a lingering illness. He was born in Pittsburgh, PA. February 5, 1932 the son of Carl and Mary Meussner Junker.
He was a 1957 graduate of California University, California, PA. with a bachelor degree in education. He received a Master’s Degree in Industrial Education in 1967. He and his wife Marjorie started Junker’s Greenhouse in 1968 and Junker’s Flower Shop in 1978. He taught Industrial Art in East Brady High School for 28 years retiring in 1985. He was a member of Saint Paul Community Church in Chicora, where he was an Elder of the Church, a financial secretary for Oak Grove Cemetery Association, a member of the Brandy Bend American Legion Post 488, a member of the Masonic Lodge 244 Kittanning-East Brady A Free and Accepted Mason. He was a US Army veteran serving his country in the Korean War. He was a member of the East Brady Rotary Club, a member of the Sugarcreek Volunteer Fire Department, and a founding member of the Sugarcreek Volunteer Fire Department Ambulance Service.
He married Marjorie Russell, November 26, 1952, she died unexpectedly September 30, 2016.
He is survived by 3 daughters: Elaine and Todd Marshall—Webster Groves, Missouri. Karen and David Conrad—Chicora, Brenda and David Bly—Karns City. A son Bruce K. and Kathy Junker—Butler. 9 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by 2 sisters, Grace Robinson and Ruth Ramming, and a brother, Carl Junker Jr.
Friends received at STEIGHNER FUNERAL HOME, at the corner of 111 E. Slippery Rock and Main Streets, Downtown Chicora, PA at 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, August 2, 2017 and from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. Thursday, August 3, 2017 at Saint Paul Community Church, State Route 268 Chicora Road, with Pastor Ryan Lucas officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery, Chicora, PA.
Full Military Honors will be provided by the Brady’s Bend and Chicora American Legions, the Chicora VFW, and the 99th Readiness Command, Butler, PA.
