If you owe money to the Pennsylvania Turnpike, you have until Friday night to pay fines at a reduced rate or risk having your vehicle registration suspended.
The turnpike commission announced its amnesty program last month- and in the first three weeks- about 1,600 violators paid a combined over $1 million in fines. Officials say 9,000 violators still owe a combined $16 million.
A new state law goes into effect Friday that will allow the commission to work with PennDOT to suspend the vehicle registrations for people who repeatedly skip out on turnpike tolls.
The deadline for participating in the amnesty program is 7 p.m. Friday. You can call 1-877-PennPass (1-877-736-6727).
